PecosLite.com is a think-tank group of educators, researchers, consumers and Platform Bed users based in Ithaca, NY. Residing in the shadows of Cornell University and Ithaca College allows access to a talent pool that is among the brightest and best available.Why Platform Beds
A group member bought a wooden platform bed that off-gassed for over 3 months, making the bed unusable for the first 3 months. That same bed was manufactured in Indonesia from lesser quality Parawood, or Rubberwood. Our goal was to find a quality platform bed that was not overly expensive, contained no VOC's with little to no off-gassing and was made either in the US or made of woods harvested in sustainable and responsible manner.
Fast forward a few years and many platform beds later and we had accumulated a large supply of data and learning and in the end found a great bed in the Pecos Lite that satisfied our stated objectives. The Pecos Lite is very adaptable - it is both suitable for a child, no off-gassing or VOC's plus the ability to store items or small drawers beneath the bed, while also being suitable for an adult, solid wood craftsmanship coupled with pleasingly simple aesthetics. The Pecos Lite is also very affordable while being made in the US (Albuquerque, New Mexico) of US harvested wood.
