  • Sustainable Wood
All the wood used in the Pecos Light is harvested sustainably using responsible forestry practices in well managed forests. Ramblin Wood, a small furniture maker, does all of it's work in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The wood is harvested and handled in a manner that complies with the Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) rules, at this time Ramblin Wood has not yet filed for the costly FCS application process - part of the reason why the price on the bed is so affordable. It is like growing veggies in your backyard - if you follow organic practices the food you grow is organic but since it has not gone through the Organic certification process it does not carry the Organic label; nonetheless, the food is still organic and grown responsibly. The same is true for the Pecos Light - the wood is harvested in the same manner, from the same forests, and goes through the same exact process as FSC lumber.

    Environmentally Friendly
The Pecos Lite platform bed is manufactured in a very environmentally friendly way. The wood is harvested sustainably (see above.) In Albuquerque, the manufacturer employs sound and strategic environmental polices:

Linseed Oil finish - the wood finish is 100% pure polymerized linseed oil. Linseed oil is the oil that is pressed from the seeds of the flax plant (flax seed oil). It is non-toxic and is completely free of heavy metal driers, VOCs and petroleum distillates.
